Bamboo Hop is a dance game performed with two nine foot bamboo poles or two 'rope-poles'. Two seated players strike the parallel poles in time to the music while the dancers perform various step patterns hopping inside and outside the poles. To master this dance and not to be caught between the poles is quite a trick, and requires a great deal of skill, rhythm, and energy.

Using the Bamboo Hop record or cassette of step-by-step simplified instructions makes mastering this dance almost easy. It teaches the pole and dance patterns to any size class without the poles, and then students may take turns using the poles.

The 'rope-poles' are excellent for learning and practicing the Bamboo Hop, and for use in other jumping exercises. The 'rope-poles' are made of brightly painted hardwood dowels on the end of each rope. Easy to carry and store!

TEACHING TOOLS:

  • Instruction cassette or album with 12 instruction sheets
  • 2 'rope-poles' (ship. wt. less than 1 lb.)
  • 1 set of heavy cardboard tube poles
(for approx. 6 feet long pole play)
